March 17th

Sometimes are you just so jealous of kids and the things that they get to worry about? I mean seriously if I could wake up knowing that for today the only thing that I need to accomplish is finding a little leperchaun and trapping him in a box, my life would be so much easier! These kids searched for hours in our back yard for that little man and although there were a few "sightings" the lucky little dude got away, for one more year at least. And I got a back porch full of all kinds of leprchaun food. It's ok I like smushed food all smeared into the patio it adds character.

I was trying to think of my first green day memory, and the only thing that I can come up with is this. I remember I was in second grade and I couldn't wait to get home from school. I ran home and waited and waited because I knew aunt Rea was coming for our annual green dinner. I couldn't wait for her and her kids to get there. I remember sitting out on the grass and while waiting I was looking every where for a four leaf clover because that is what you are supposed to do on St. Patty's day right? I have no idea why our family has always had a green dinner but is one of my favorite traditions. I remember through the years always inviting random friends, families, dates to dinner and loving seeing their faces as they realize that EVERYTHING is green! from the butter to the milk to the meat! It was and is such a fun tradition.

This year for St. Patty's the kids and I woke up and met our good friend Dallas at Liberty Park. We played in the fresh warm weather and then headed back to kaysville. When I was little I remember my mom always taking us to schmidts bakery to get a sugar cookie and a sprite, for some reason that day I just really felt like a sugar cookie and sprite. So we found a little bakery in Kaysville and pulled over to indulge ourselves and I was pretty let down it didn't taste a thing like my memory! But it did give me a new task of finding the perfect bakery around here. Then we headed home to get ready for our own green dinner, did you know that you can buy already green rolls from Great Harvest! Yes you can and yes I did. I tried to get away with letting everyone believe that I actually baked them but they know me too well and know that I can't get rolls to rise for the life of me.
