UEA weekend!

Most families around here and when I was growing up looked forward to UEA weekend because they always had a family vacation planned or something big that they do every year. Well ever sinse I was a little girl my family has always gone downtown for UEA weekend. Yes downtown Salt Lake city. I remember as a little girl looking forward to this for weeks before UEA. My amazing mother would pack all five of us kids up and we would go to the closeest bus stop. We would get hot chocolate from Hardees and then wait for the bus. We loved the bus ride. I loved dropping the coins in as I walked on the bus and then fighting over the best seat possible. We would ride the bus to the children's museum and play there for hours. Then we would hop back on the bus and go to temple square. Abravanel hall for the fountains, and the Crossroads mall for lunch, arcade games, the cutest stickers, and the candy shop. We would buy these little wax coke bottles full of juice, or the candy buttons, you know which ones I am talking about. We did this every year. And every year we were all so excited!! So according to tradition we made the trip downtown today. Holli and her kids came we all rode the new front runner into Salt Lake and started with temple square. We walked around the grounds watched all of the videos, threw pennies in the fountains and Madi and Bailey oohed and aahhed over the beautiful brides. Next we went to lunch and then to the church museum. The kids love playing here because it is free and it is so cute. I know I have blogged about there before and it was pretty much the same as last time. Bay and Mad hung around the little "hospital" and Brady colored while Max ran around like a wild man. Next we walked down to Gateway They had some kind of festivities going on and the kids were able to decorate pumpkins, play games, and dance to radio disney in the water fountains. They all loved it! Especially Maximus. He loves to dance and he had quite the audience. These old ladies just kept laughing at him and dancing with him and he just kept running all around. I tried to get good video but this was the best I could do and it does not give it justice!! I had a reporter ask if he could take pictures of Moo while she was decorating her pumpkin so look for her in the Tribune! When I told Madi that she was going to be in the paper she said, "no mom, I don't want to go to the paper, I just want to be your honey." I told her she would still be my baby she would just have her picture where everyone could see and she said "ok as long as I can still be your honey" After that we made our last stop at the arcade. Brady and Bay won over 1000 tickets and madi won a bagful of candy!!! (it helped having a machine that was jammed so she could play over and over again!!) After a LONG LONG day of fun we finally decided it was time to go home so we packed up and got back on the train. It was so much fun and now I am so dang tired but I love that this is a tradition that my children can enjoy and look forward to!

I loved this trip!! I also love that you want to make one of our memories one of your families. I loved snuggling up to all you kids on the bus after we froze waiting for it. Seing so much excitement on your faces. Holding your little hands and watching the movies at temple square. Eating all the candy we could hold. Those were some of the sweetest times of my life. But...then I get to see those same looks in your little kids eyes and watch them play with you and love life and it just makes getting older, better and better!!

I remember those exact same details. I never was so excited for anything. You did forget one things though. We would always go to Artic Circle and get those big Happy Meal pumpkins, the plastic kind.
